I feel a special connection to the Bellevue Botanical Garden since I wrote the book about its history and display gardens. On August 5, I'll speak at the annual meeting on "Fabulous Plants from Our Garden to Yours." I've been inspired again and again to includes plants in my own garden that I've seen there, and I want to share some of those.
August 7 - They have quite a reputation for being great gardeners and a lively bunch, and now I get to see for myself: I'll be speaking to The Inland Empire Garden Club in Spokane on "A Rose is a Rosa: Plant Names for Gardeners." Botanical nomenclature is fun!

Sept. 12-13 I'll be buying
plants at the Northwest Horticultural Society's sale at
Magnuson Park. I always find fabulous plants at this
exceptional sale, and I'm never shy about nosing into
other shoppers' business and recommending something.
Look for me there!
Sept. 19-22 — It's time for the
national Garden Writers Association meeting, this year
in Portland. What fun, all I need to do is hop on the
train. This is a great weekend full of seeing what's
new in gardening, plus catching up on all the industry
gossip.
